This may seem like a silly question, but maybe there actually is a reason. My theory is that if they are cute to us, then perhaps they look healthy to adult animals of the same species. This way, the mother animal can weed out any of their offspring that isn't quite as "cute," thus providing a healthier population of their species through further generations. That's just a theory, but I'd like to hear the opinions of others.
