Species can be found in Malaysia, Penang, Ayer Itam. Slightly more than 1 foot long. Can move in both directions if disturbed. Comes out by night only.

How can you tell if a possum is playing dead or is really dead? Or dog chased, caught and shook one and it is still playing (?) dead? How long can they play dead?

They can discharge up to 650 volts intermitently for an hour or more. Wouldn't this tun or kill any fish within a 10 foot radius, and Red Bellied Piranha being prone to cannibalism at times would shift their focus from the eel to eating their dead comrades, right? Maybe that's what the eels eat.

This may seem like a silly question, but maybe there actually is a reason. My theory is that if they are cute to us, then perhaps they look healthy to adult animals of the same species. This way, the mother animal can weed out any of their offspring that isn't quite as "cute," thus providing a healthier population of their species through further generations. That's just a theory, but I'd like to hear the opinions of others.
