well, to put it simply, the egg... Here's why. It is believed that the first life forms on the planet were single celled organisms. The bird egg is in fact a single celled organism. So I believe that the egg would certainly have to have appeared first, not in the form of an egg of course, but of some paramecium, that later took the form of a chicken.
