NASA had some long term plans in that direction, but the Republicans canceled their budget, so I think the only serious efforts in that direction currently would be in the form of Taoist hermits, and possibly the Boy Scouts.

The current warmonger policies promoted by our government are all pointing to a future whereby humanities survivors will all be living wild and free for a brief time frame at least! Then they will tend to band together and form loose tribes and society will start all over again to repeat the same mistakes once more-ad infinitum! Let me know when the next holocaust is finished so I can come out and live again!

Yeah, nudist colonies or hermits living in the mountains are about as close to living wild and free in the world today for humans.

I have a friend who's niece joined a commune in Alaska. I think something like that is the closest you're going to get in this day and age.
