Could you get all your drinking water just by going outside in the rain and opening your mouth?

Alright, I'll get back to work now!

Anyone who takes five minutes to actually reseach the topic would understand that it's not just making certain parts of the world that are normally very cold warmer, but it is changing climates everywhere - excessive rain in normally dry places, excessive drought in other places, places that never get snow are seeing it fall this year (Pheonix, AZ), and extreme weather is more and more common (three weeks ago it was like spring in NY, now they have early 8 feet of snow on the ground) etc....
How can someone who never read anything on the topic, other than a headline, form such strong opinions?

You know how when heavy rain is approaching a couple of km away, even when out in the countryside suddenly you can smell it, and sometimes quite strongly...?

What is that about? I mean...it's air+water, so what is causing the distinctive smell?

Thanks!

If I remember correctly the jet stream is way up, around 30,00 feet, whereas most storms occur lower down. Even if they extend higher, as thunderheads do, the jet stream is small compared to the high or low pressure area. Yet it seems that the jet stream controls where the weather fronts go.
