A stationary 0.1-g fly encounters the windshield of a 1400-kg automobile traveling at 120 km/h. (a) What is the magnitude of change in momentum of the car due to the fly? (b) What is the magnitude of change of momentum of the fly due to the car? (c) Approximately how many flies does it take to reduce the car's speed by 1 km/h?

For a), I got that

0.1g/1000g=0.0001kg

0.0001kg*120km/hr=0.12kg*km/hr

But I don't know how to get b and c...

A cat dozes on a stationary merry-go-round, at a radius of 5.0 m from the center of the ride. Then the operator turns on the ride and brings it up to its proper turning rate of one complete rotation every 6.2 s. What is the least coefficient of static friction between the cat and the merry-go-round that will allow the cat to stay in place, without sliding?

I have been exercising and eating better and my muscles have not increased whatsoever.. yet now I can see my ribs and before I was flabby.. and yet my weight is STILL 125lbs!! Has NOT changed. Do you think there is some "dark matter" in me? And how do I get rid of it seeing that it does not interact with anything, including itself?

What's the formula

Does anything special happen at the supersonic-sonic boundary (reduced damage capability maybe?)

Please read ALL the article before posting an answer. For those who believe that the thermodynamique law on energy preservation works for everything, READ the steorn.com website informations before saying its not possible. Actually the will start a live feed on 4 webcams tonight showing the system in action.
This discovery can be compared to when humans first harness fire, this could revolutionized our society and the world if politicians and oil companies (corporations in general) step out of the way to make it happen...

me and a friend are having a debate in our physics class as to whether or not grass would turn blue when an appropriate speed is reached due to the doppler effect. we worked out the mathematical point at which this would occur (cant remember exact number right now, but practically speaking the speed is beyond anything currently possible). but if this speed was attainable would grass appear to turn blue?....

An explosion occurs at the end of a pier. The sound reaches the other end of the pier by traveling through three media: air, fresh water, and a slender metal handrail. The speeds of sound in air, water and the handrail are 343, 1482, and 5040 m/s, respectively. the sound travels a distance of 125 m in each medium.
(a) Through which medium does the sound arrive first, second, and third?
(b) After the first sound arrives, how much later do the secnd and third sounds arrive?
