this is a really philosophical question and really complicated too. me and my friends thought of this just talking. we have things like the speed of sound, light, and other stuff like that, but what is the speed of time?

I have a machine with 3 wheels 120 degrees apart from eachother, basically making an equilateral triangle. when this machine runs you put a baseall on top of these 3 wheels, and the wheels spin in certain ways to make the ball rotate in 3 different directions. Right now I have 3 very strong motors connected to these wheels that spin the ball. I am now trying to make a prototype that will be economical and need to figure out how strong these motors need to be at minimum. How should I figure this out. Is there some calculations I can do or, is it just going to be trial and error?

Obviously electricity is the flow of electrons. When a lightning bolt hits the ground, what happens (on an atomic level) that allows the air the electricity travels through to all of a sudden conduct electricity? Is this a plasmic state since the air is superheated? Thanks for your help!

I watched the moon walking footage form the Apollo missions and I have a simple question: I don’t understand why the dust or fine sand always falls immediately to ground while the astronauts which are much heavier have to deal with the lesser gravitation. Isn’t this mass related: the heavier the faster one should drop (Newton) and therefore for the dust with less mass and gravitation it should take much longer ? Just curious? Note I haven’t made my mind up what I should believe about the whole thing. This is a scientific question, ok!

The outdoor rainbow experiment is explained below
Fill the glass with water and place the mirror in it face up at a 45º angle, coming about halfway out of the glass. Place them in strong sunlight coming as straight down as possible. (Do this outside at noon if you need to.) Position the glass so that the sun rays go through the water and hit the mirror. Hold the white paper vertically off to one side, so the seven colors of the rainbow are produced on it.
b. Now stir the water gently with the pencil and watch what happens on the paper or wall. What happens? Can you think of a reason why?

When I stop my car at a traffic junction, watching out for oncoming traffic, I judge in a split second if it is safe or not to cross the road. This judgment includes the acceleration of my own car and the varying speed of approaching traffic. What would a workable formula be to determine this theoretically? I there is the basic formulas available but it does not answer my question completely

I'm looking for a book that best explores the philosophical implcations of modern physics (Quantum Theory, Relativity, etc) in straightforward terms.

Not too dumbed down though. I would like something that's challenging but accessible.
