1 Two student, Lee and Melanie, each hold a solid object. Lee has solid object A and Melanie has solid object B. The students make the following observations:

Larry: "My object has three times the mass of object B and since density is directly proportional to mass, my object has 3 times the density of object B."

Melanie: "My object takes up 1/3 of the volume of object A, and since density is inversely proportional to mass, my object is 3 times as dense as object A."

a) which student, if either, is correct?

b) If the statements about the mass and the volumes of each object are correct, how do the densities of each object compare?

ive done this since i was little. if you have a bubble sitting on flat surface blow on it very lightly so the rainbow colors swirl. then if you stay real still its when the bubble loses color (i say black) it pops. I asked a chemistry teacher this and he said there was an experiment on this but i cant remember the name. something about light and the rainbow. cant fine full explanation.

The temepreture of ambient air is 27C and pressure is 1atm.

The mix inside the ballon is ignited and exploded, but cylinder was strong enough and remained undamaged. After some time thermal equilbruim was restored.


What is then new volume under the piston?

….and light is just part of the electro-magnetic spectrum, does that mean that all EM radiation is made up of photons?

When reading about photons, I only recall them being mentioned in relation to light. If they are only peculiar to that tiny part of the EMR spectrum, I am confused.

For example what is the greatest distance a person can hear a shot fired from a M110 howitzer canon?
M110 howitzer can fire a shot up to 30Km(18.75 miles), I want to know if it's possiple to hear a shot such as this one from more then 5 miles (or 8Km0?

Is it possible to measure gravitational acceleration 'g' near the earth's surface using a centrifuge? Someone told me that if you put a small object like a pebble in a centrifuge, start the centrifuge off at a high speed, and slowly lower the angular speed. At the speed the pebble falls out, the gravitational acceleration will equal omega squared times r (radius); is this valid? (omega is angular speed, the derivate of the angle with respect to time, or 2pi radians/period if angular speed is constant)

I do not think so, because the force here is the frictional force between pebble and centrifuge, and not the gravitational force.

Also, If you swing anything in a vertical, circular pattern, anything inside of it will experience two forces at the top of the arc. If the measurable, centrifugal force is less than the force of gravity, the object will fall. Is this correct? If so, can this be used to measure 'g'?

If not, is there a way to measure 'g' using a centrifuge? Thank-you.

Is this a myth? I understand somewhat the physics behind falling from heights, but this sounded ridiculous when I was a kid, and sounds even more ridiculous now.

I think I have just created a magnetic capacitor. it wasn't what I was origanly trying to make. but through some weird serendipity it seems that I have. I think I have because I'm getting a magnetic field way stronger than I should be able to create with the voltages I'm using. and it comes in pulses. but my question is. is there anything that says it is physically imposable to make a magnetic capacitor. so I know I'm not mistaken with my assumption
