For example what is the greatest distance a person can hear a shot fired from a M110 howitzer canon?
M110 howitzer can fire a shot up to 30Km(18.75 miles), I want to know if it's possiple to hear a shot such as this one from more then 5 miles (or 8Km0?

i know that snipers have to be about 1km away from the target so that they cant hear the shot. It's either 1 km or 1 mile, i forget which.

It depends on the magnitude of the sound which is dependent on the size of the charge and the dynamics of the howitzer.

Factor 1 Human SENSITIVITY to sound vibration.
Factor 2 Interfering TERRAIN FEATURES eg. flora, topography, bodies of water, etc.
Factor 3 ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS, Pressure, Temperature,Humidity, Viscosity(sound damping), aerosols (dust, etc.) and wind speed and direction, etc.
Factor 4 Relative locations/positions and orientation of human observer and artillery piece.

Bottom Line - I don't have a clue.
