We are studying equal potential lines in my high school physics class, and I have this question.

If lightning strikes a tree 20 meters away, would it be better to stand facing the tree, your back to the tree, or your side to the tree? Assume that your feet are a comfortable shoulder width apart.

I really don't get equal potential lines, is there any generalization you can say about them? Any help or websites about equal potential lines would be much appreciated.

Okay there are two questions that I do not understand about vibrations and waves. Here they are:

4. Suppose that a pendulum has a period of 1.5 seconds. How long does it take to make a complete back-and-forth vibration? Is this 1.5-second period pendulum longer or shorter in length than a 1-second period pendulum?

What happens to the magnetic field and force of an electromagnet if no current is passing through the solenoid/wire? Will the iron core itself still produce a magnetic force? My resources tell me that the charged solenoid causes the domains in the iron core to line up (which makes it magnetic). Does that mean that if the solenoid is no longer charged, the iron core isn't as well? Help me out here, and I will appreciate it.
