In terms of physics, plasma is a special type of gas (ionized) - therefore it is electrically conductive, and responds strongly to electromagnetic fields. In terms of medicine, plasma is the clear/yellowish-white component of whole blood.

Plasma is a gas which is so hot that the electrons have been stripped off the atoms. So it is a cloud of ions and electrons, which are kept apart by the extreme temperature.

Plasma behaves totally differently from gas, so it is a separate state of matter.

The word plasma is also used for a part of your blood, but that is a separate meaning of the word.

Basically, plasma is the state of matter that happens when there is enough energy to strip electrons away from atoms.

I know it is a little hard to understand. But I think of it as a state of energy.....
