Then, there are no precise artificial measuring tools - all you have is the natural world around you. Your people don't know the significance of the speed of light . And yet, you want to share this because it would help you and your people better see the truth.

Big bird was selling cookies in a lift and cookie monster entered it. Big bird charges the cookies by weight. Cookie monster didn't know when is the right time to buy the cookies so it would be cheaper and wants to as the people at yahoo answers and he needs the answer quick. So should cookie monster buy the cookies when the lift is stationary, accelerating upwards, accelerating downwards or when its decelerating. Please show some numbers for easy understanding because cookie monster did not study science in his school.

I have learned the concepts and formula already but I still don't know how to apply them like F=m(dv/dt)+(v-u)dm/dt, impulse, momentum and those elastic collisions and inelastic collisions. Anyone can explain the topic in detail for me out of kindness?

I'll paraphrase the question: There is a pallet with tomato cases on it and it is being lifted by a crane. Find the center of gravity in the horizontal plane so that the crane operator can pick up the load without tipping it.

What does it mean by "find the center of gravity in the horizontal plane"? Does it mean just find the Xcm? Or do I have to consider Ycm and Zcm as well?

Does the weight or mass of an object affect the timing of a free fall without reaching terminal velocity? If no, why not? If yes, why?
Does an object thrown down from a building with a force of 1000N go faster than an object that is released from the same height? Why?
Can you people try to help explain some concepts relating to my questions please?

Question 1:An extremely light, drivable car with a mass of only 9.50kg was built in London. Suppose that the wheels of the car are locked, so that the car no longer rolls. If the car is pushed up a 30.0 degree slope by an applied force of 80.0N, the net acceleration of the car is 1.64 m/s^2. What is the coefficient of kinetic friction between the car and the incline?

Question 2:Cleopatra's Needle, an obelisk given by the Egyptian government to Great Britain in the nineteenth century, is 20+ m tall and has a mass of about 1.89 * 10^5 kg. Suppose the monument is lowered onto its side and dragged horizontally to a new location. An applied force of 7.6 * 10^5 N is exerted on the monument, so that its net acceleration is 0.11m/s^2. What is the magnitude of the frictional force?

Can you show some work so that I can figure out how you did the problem?

Hi, I'm learning Center of Mass in physics right now, and although I got the points made in the lecture, I can't seem to do the hw. I don't need the answer, but I want to know how certain things given in the problem play a role in the answer. Here's the problem for reference:

A square uniform raft, 18 m by 18 m, of mass 6200kg, is used as a ferryboat. If three cars, each of mass 1200kg, occupy thte NE, SE and SW corners, determine the CM of the loaded Ferryboat.

Now, my teacher said put the origin in someplace easy, so I chose the center of the ferryboat as (0,0). I went through the calculations, and got: Xcm = 1.1 and Ycm = -1.1

However, when I put the origin at the South East Corner, I got Xcm = -5.69 and Ycm = 5.69. (Am I allowed to put the origin at this place?)

Is there something wrong here? Also, I would also like to know if the mass of the ferryboat matters here...I think it does. Please help!!!
