I.e., if you videotaped clouds moving across the sky with no other reference points like the horizon, birds or planes, could someone tell if the film was being run forwards or backwards? Assume they were not present at the taping.

I'm having trouble understanding the terms crystallite, particle and grain. Here is what wikipedia says for grains: " Grain size refers to the physical dimensions of individual particles of rock or other solid". But when I look up particle, it does not list the geological sense of the word. For crystallite, wikipedia says this: "A crystallite is a domain of solid-state matter that has the same structure as a single crystal". Does this mean that a particle is a crystallite?

Hello dere!
I have a few odd ideas about physics, questions on the nature of space, time, space/time, dark matter, etc. Is there a place on line where educated people are willing to discuss this kind of nuttiness with a layman?

rest mass of photon is 0, v=c, applying it in einstein's equation for mass, we get 0/0 (zero divided by zero). WHat is its value then?

How would this concept affect the issue of Mankind and free will? Are all of our actions pre-ordained? If the future already exists, then haven't all of our decisions already been made?

hey guys, i need some ideas on how to make a great device for my egg drop contest. It will be dropped 5 meters from the air, and it cannot be a parachute and the dimensions cannot exceed 30cmX20cmX20cm. The design may not have only packing materials, but it can have some. IF NE OF YALL KNOW . PLEASE RESPOND BACK, this crap is worth 100 test points so yea lol

I'm doing a science experiment. can someone help me that if u have 3 balls that weigh each differently, ( none is heavy, one weighs medium and one is light weight), and i pushed them all with the same force, and my hypothesis is that the heavy one is slowest, but it was really the opposite. so, to write a conclusion , how does mass affect the speed of the balls.

let's say we play basketball on the moon, will the ball accelerate faster or slower when coming down. what about when coming up

there are 2 sides to the story,

the ball would accelerate faster:less air resistance

the ball would accelearte slower: moon has lower gravity and acceleration

Without the prefabricated opinons of beleivers and nonbelivers alike, Do you think that the multiple deminsions described in string theory could contain a God?

There is no man that greatly understood electricity and electromagnetism better than Nikola Tesla did. In his own words, he states (about Einstein's work) that it is a "magnificent mathematical garb which fascinates, dazzles and makes people blind to the underlying errors. The theory is like a beggar clothed in purple whom ignorant people take for a king...., its exponents are brilliant men but they are metaphysicists rather than scientists..."

he further continues:

"I hold that space cannot be curved, for the simple reason that it can have no properties. It might as well be said that God has properties. He has not, but only attributes and these are of our own making. Of properties we can only speak when dealing with matter filling the space. To say that in the presence of large bodies space becomes curved is equivalent to stating that something can act upon nothing. I, for one, refuse to subscribe to such a view."
