Galileo was right becuae he knew that wind resistance slowed things down, but he was hypothesising about the force of gravity. Besides, wind resistance on a normal object (like a sphere) couldn't be measured with the technology that Galileo had back then.

No. The laws of motion ignore air resistance because it can't be controlled during an experiment. Galileo knew full well that air resistance causes rocks to fall faster than feathers -- he was more interested in discovering a more universal law -- what happens when air resistance is removed.

No. Gallieo included wind resistance in his theory. Your introductory level physics will not include wind resistance because it is a calculation which requires the use of more advanced calculus and is in alot of simple real world cases, fairly negligable.

galileo correctly said that the acceleration due to gravity was the same regardless of the size or shape of the object
the fact that the deceleration due to air friction is different for objects of different shapes and sizes, does not change his observation
gravity still pulls on all objects the same, and the acceleration due to gravity is the same
the actual falling velocity of something is based on all the forces acting on the object, mainly gravity and air resistance
