there are over 300,000,000,000 galaxy's and in each galaxy there are about 300,000,000,000 planets and stars... if you multiply those together you get a huge number... earth is only one in like 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (didn't do the math, but i know it's allot of zeros) there has got to be life out there somewhere wondering if there is anyone like them in the universe... that is only one universe.. if you believe in the multiverse there are an infinit amount of planets and stars...

You are looking down at the earth from inside a jetliner flying at an altitude of 8700 m. The pupil of your eye has a diameter of 2.00 mm. Determine how far apart two cars must be on the ground if you are to have any hope of distinguishing between them with the following lighting.(

i got 2.59 and 1.58 for them respectively...but they are wrong...can someone help?

Is it true that all objects, irrespective of mass, reach the ground at the same time when dropped from the same height at the same time ?

If yes, do the following objects reach the ground at the same time

a) a bullet fired horizontally from a height x above the ground
b) a bullet dropped vertically (free fall) from the same height x above the ground?

I am making a series of visual applets in Java and Matlab for Undergraduate physics majors. What were some concepts that were difficult for you to grasp that might have been easier if you had some way to play with the values to see how the concept 'works'?

My applets are for everyone in any level of physics. From basic Astronomy for non-majors to Intro to Electrodynamics.

A machine that can duplicate position and state of atoms - a
people duplicator plus a machine to transmit matter.
Human is 'duplicated' and transmitted with duplicate into a room. The room is inside a sphere all directions the same. No windows and no objects.
The room floats free in space -no gravity, ie. No up no down.
The person and his duplicate materialise in the room, one
behind the other like they were in queue.
The one facing the wall would see the wall.
The one behind would see the back of his double.
A tap on the duplicates back and a conversation ensues between them.
Because their experiences were different when they entered the room. (One saw a wall the other a figure). But if they arrived facing each other what then?
Their experiences would be the same they would do and say exactly the same thing for all time. No conversation possible because the initial symmetry of their experience cannot be broken .
Can Tweedle Dum/ Tweedle Dee existence be avoided?

A driver with an impact speed of 110 mph with
a) acceleration > 0
b) acceleration = 0
c) acceleration < 0

Assume the same driver is used on the same golf ball in each event. Also, I know distance is affected by ball spin rate and launch angle. I'm just trying to figure out if acceleration at impact has a significant effect on the distance the ball travels.

String theory postulates the entire universe is made up of one dimensional strings of vibrating energy one Plank length (10^-33 cm) long. Because they are finite length (size), it follows there must be a density based on number of strings in some given volume of space. What is the density of those strings in number of strings per unit space? Is it a uniform density or heterogenious over space? Does it make sense to define density over 4D space or 11D space? Why?
