Well for our 1st yr PHY lab we have to actually perform an experiment and thn present it to the class? Any suggestions?

Currently we were thinking things like calculation viscoities of diffrent liquids by measuring the velocity of objects travelling throught it, Projectiles, collisions,Fluid Flow..etc ect

Basically anything that does not need really expensive random material.

A gymnast on a suspended platform holds on to a 5 m long rope and swings by gravity alone (i.e., without pushing off) to another platform directly below the rope’s suspension point. Approximate how long it takes to swing from point A to point B.

===A

My brother used to catch those who understand physics and those who just memorize it with this question.
There is a table. On the table is a chair. On the chair is an object (say a stone) which weighs W kg. The stone has a force R acting on it and it in turn applies a force R on the chair. Similarly the table has four forces acting on its legs which are cancelled by the equal and opposite forces acting from the table, lets call them r.

Now according to Newtons Laws (since there is no motion) there should be an equal and opposite force to W. Where is it?

In optics we all know that a ray of light bends according to incident angle when it passess to a glass slab form air.For some time consider(suppose) that you are a ray of light and are going to strike on a plane of glass slab. I am sure you will agree that you will see nothing but only the point on the plane on which you are going to strike. At such condition how can you know the inclination at which you are inclined to the plane of glass slab and bend accordingly???

Will our brains get bigger and our organs will shrinks since most of the daily things will be automatic?

Maybe no body will have to work anymore because will we live in a different kind of awareness?

Or maybe earth will not survive 100 more years?

What do you think?

Hi, slartybardfast.

My discovery has got nothing to do with monopole...
Magnetic field is in circular condition, N & S are just to indicate the direction for reference purpose... So very simple, N & S are actually the same only the directions different. Can we divide one simple singular item into two? No, right? For centuries, people have mistaken that a magnet comes with two 'extreme poles'...

My conclusion: no such thing as monopole in real world. Besides imaginary theory.

THey had something about it in teh anime R.O.D. the TV.

it was demonstrated by having cards placed up right straight perpundicular from the ground. two collumns with equal number of cards and equal spacing.

this made it so that the space between the two collumns would not receive sound from outside

how does this work?

A photon has zero rest mass yet positive relativistic mass. This is possible only if v=c. Yet this only holds in vacuum. I can imagine that the energy budget holds if light is seen as waves, but still there should be a solution to this paradox. Is the rest mass positive in non-vacuum?

I live in the desert, and I usually wear short sleeves. Someone told me that, like the Bedouin in the Middle East, I should wear long sleeves and basically cover up when the outside temperature is higher than my body temperature, thereby insulating me from the higher outside heat. I know I feel cooler when I wear short sleeves and in general less clothing, but his logic seems to make sense.

We are pumping billions of barrels of oil out of the ground each day. What is filling these vacancies (hollow holes) in the ground or are they just open caves in the ground? Won't this cause future earthquakes as water or land fills these open caves? Are we dooming the future generation on earth by pumping all this oil out of the ground and leaving the caves to fill in causing earthquakes and unstable and unlivable land?
