Ok. Solve the logarithmic equation. round answer to 3 decimal places, if necessary.

1. log(x+1) + log(x-2) = log4

2. log(base of 5) (x+4) + log(base of 5) x = 1

I know the addition means multiplication, right? well I can't seem to factor it out right. But this is going to be graded and I really need to get a 100! So please help me, or atleast help me solve the equation to get the answer!

The first one my answer is 141.42, i really think i am major wrong with that one lol

And for the second one i got - 4

Thanks!

1) If the metric system is adopted for everyday use fabric will be sold in meters (not yards), milk in liters (not quarts), and meat in kilograms (not pounds). Given that 1 inch = 2.54 cm, 1 pint = 473.2 ml, and 1 pound = 453.6 g, what percentage increase does each of the following represent?
a) fabric: 1.00 meter instead of 1 yard,
b) milk: 1.00 liter instead of 1.00 quart,
c) meat: 1.00 kilogram instead of 2.00 pounds.

2) One cord of wood (a stack 4 ft high by 8 ft long by 4 ft deep) has a volume of 128 ft^3. What is the volume of 1 cord in m^3? One inch equals 2.54 cm exactly.

3) One gallon is 231 in^3. What is the volume of 1 gallon in cm^3? One inch equals 2.54 cm exactly.

Hey I need help on this problem:

81x^2 - 126x + 49 = 16

btw, I'm confused about how you fill in the first parentheses. My friend said to start the problem you first put (9x-7)^2 = 16 but where does the 7 and 9 come from? thanks.

Often environmentalists capture an endangered species and transport the species to a controlled environment where the species can produce offspring and regenerate its population. Suppose that six American bald eagles are captured, transported to Montana, and set free. Based on experience, the environmentalists expect the population to grow according to the model
P(t)= 500/ 1+83.33e^-0.162t
where t is measured in years.
a) determine the carrying capacity of the environment
b)what is the growth rate of the bald eagle?
c)what is the population after 3 years?
D)when will the population be 300 eagles?
e)How long does it take for the population to reach one-hhalf of the carrying capacity?
