The slope of the line
= ((7+1)/(3-0))
= 8/3

Hence, the equation of the line is
y + 1 = 8x/3
y = 8x/3 - 1

Equation of a line has the form
                    y = mx + b
where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept

Calculate slope from the two data points:
                    slope = (7--1)/(3-0)
                              = 8/3

Use one of the data points to calculate the y-intercept:
                    -1 = (8/3)*0 + b
                    b = -1

Equation for the line:
                    y = (8/3)x -1

First, recall a slope formula... m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
Plugging in numbers, you get (7 - (-1))/(3-0) = (7+1)/3 = 8/3
Now you have the slope.

Second, realize, all you need is a point and the slope to come to the formula for the line.

Now.... your line formula... y-y1=m(x-x1).
Plugging in numbers, you get y-(-1) = (8/3)(x-0).
You can use either of the points for above formula. Just pick one of the two and stick with it.
Simplify... y+1=(8/3)x.
Rearrange... y=(8/3)x - 1

There you go

the equation is y=8/3x-1

firstly, you must find the slope
by subtracting 7--1/3-0 which equals8/3

next, you pick a point and plug it into the equation y=mx+b
so u can do -1=8/3X0 +b
b=-1
so that works :)

Put the corrdinates on the graph and then find the slope and put it into the equation. Remember your -1 is going to be your begin number.

I could be wrong but I believe I am right. Hope I helped explain.

find the slope first
y1-y2/x1-x2
(7- -1)/(3-0)=8/3
y=8/3x+b
-1=8/3(0)+b
b=-1
y=8/3x-1
