two ellipses are drawn on the same graph, x^2/3 + y^2 = 1, and x^2 + y^2/3 = 1. How would I find the area contained within the two ellipses? ie. the area in the middle that both ellipses overlap on. I'm trying to use integrals and the area between curves, but i'm getting these ridiculously complicated integrals. Can anyone help? Thanks very much!

for example can someone guide me through this slowly- you will be greatly appreciated as i am taking as level maths in year 9 and i need all the help i can get thanx:

find the volume generated when the region bounded by them curves y=2x(squared) and y= 3-(x squared) is rotated 180 degrees about the y -axis

sorry if this is not clear

the curve g(t)=(-1+3t,2-3t) is a tangent of h(t). Find where h(t) and G(t) intersect. i.e. find the points such that g(t1)=h(t2) for some t1,t2, in the reals.

i've shown its a regular parametrized curve. i've tried finding the intersecting point by -1+3t=t^3 and 2-3t=t^2-t
but i'm not really gettin gud answers so im thinkn if im doin it wrong, not quite sure wat the question means by t1 and t2. ???

Here are my steps:

dx = e^t + e^-t
dy = -2

then

L = ∫ √ [ (e^t + e^-t)² - (-2)² ] dt

= ∫ √ [ (e^2t) +( 2*e^t *e^-t) + (e^-2t) - 4 ] dt

2*e^t *e^-t = 2

so

L = ∫ √ [ (e^2t) - 2+ (e^-2t) ] dt

Which is the same as

L = ∫ √ [ (e^2t) - (2*e^t *e^-t)+ (e^-2t) ] dt

This is a perfect square

L = ∫ √ [ (e^2t ) - (e^-2t) ]² dt

L = ∫ (e^2t ) - (e^-2t)

= (1/2)e^2t + (1/2)e^-2t

The integral is from 0 to 3

the answer is (1/2) (e^6 + e^-6)

Is this right? I don't want the answer in decimals. To keep it in this format is okay.

Piero put in 112 ducats, Pollo 200 ducats, and Zuanne 142 ducats. At the end of a period of time they found that they had gained 463 ducats. How much does each man receive so that no one shall be cheated? You cannot Split a ducat...

2. An avian disease is decimating the bird population of a South Pacific island. The population at any time (t) is roughly approximated by the equation y=A * e^cos( π /2 * t)
where t is in years, t is between 0-2, and A is the popluation at t=0.

Find the rate at which the population is declining at t=1 (in terms of A)

A mass on a spring vibrates horizontally on a smooth level surface (see the figure). Its equation of motion, x(t) where t is in seconds and x in centimeters, is given below.
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/4584/3335wr2.gif
x(t) = 10 sin(t)

(a) Find the velocity, v, and acceleration, a, at time t.

v(t) =

a(t) =

(b) Find the position, x, velocity, v, and acceleration, a, of the mass at time t = pi/ 3.

x ( pi)/3) =

v ( pi)/3) =

a ( pi)/3) =

In what direction is it moving at that time?
The particle is moving to the right, because of (velocity=0, velocity<0, velocity>0, acceleration=0, acceleration<0 or aceleration>0)
