I am a substitute teacher, and I am covering a trig class on Friday. The teacher of this class is in the hospital and she didnt leave any work. I found the questions in a book, but there a no answers.

(1) Given the angle a and the radius r, to find the length of the subtending arc.
(a) a=0degrees 17 minutes, 48 seconds, r= 6.2935.

(b) a=121 degrees 6 minutes, 18 seconds, r= 0.2163

2.
Given the length of the arc L and the radius R, to find the angle subtended at the center.
(a) L=.16296, R=12.587.

(b) L=1.3672, R= 1.2978.

3.

Given the length of the arc L and the angle A which it subtends at the center, to find the radius.

(a) a= 0 degrees, 44 minutes, 30 seconds, L= .032592.

(b) a= 60 degrees, 21 minutes, 6 seconds, L=.4572.

4.A railroad curve forms a circular arc of 9 degrees, 36.7 minutes, the radius to the center line of the track being 2100 feet. If the gauge is 5 feet, find the difference in length of the two rails to the nearest half-inch.

I was once with me buddies working down a keg at a gathering and we were well along. They were asking Mr. Smarty pants (wink) all sorts of science and math questions. And I was having no trouble with them, it was quite impressive. However after maybe 15 minutes someone asked "Whats the square root of the number of beers you drank?" And for some reason I just was stunned by that. After having had 14, I was simply unable to determine the answer. I sat and thought for a minute and was forced to answer with... "ssshit man, I dunno but i think I might now in about 2 more beers"

first question: which comes first, sin or cosine when you are talking about a value like, (x,y). would x be sin and y cosine or is it vise versa

second question: today after our teacher annouced that we will be having a quiz, he said that we should memorize identities and values and then he started numbering like 0, 30,45,60,90,180,270 and then he'll be like what's the sin of such and such a number and the answers would be like pie/2 or pie/3. i thought it would be answers like 1/2 or square root of 2/2.

am i making sense. im so lost. is there other values for sin and cosine that have pies in the answer

and could you guess what identities he was talking about coz there seems to be a lot in calculus

the equation started as (x-3)²=4(y+6) and when i work it out i get y=x²-6x-15 over 4. I'm tryin to graph it but if i plug in 2 and 4 for the values of x, the value for y is the same for both of em. isn't that not supposed to happen?
