I was once with me buddies working down a keg at a gathering and we were well along. They were asking Mr. Smarty pants (wink) all sorts of science and math questions. And I was having no trouble with them, it was quite impressive. However after maybe 15 minutes someone asked "Whats the square root of the number of beers you drank?" And for some reason I just was stunned by that. After having had 14, I was simply unable to determine the answer. I sat and thought for a minute and was forced to answer with... "ssshit man, I dunno but i think I might now in about 2 more beers"

Should I let the doctors and nurses just make my wife comfortable and let her pass away pain free, or should I have them try and save her which will only add a few hours to her life because she will be lucky to last the night.

What a question to be asked at 28 years of age.

The Hardest Question Ever

This is a great question. It might be the hardest one anyone has asked me because I have dozens of answers going through my head and can't pick one. However, along the line of square roots, here's an aside.

One of my sons was in an accident and suffered many broken bones and lacerations, including two breaks in his lower jaw that left half of it just hanging. While two doctors were sewing him up in the emergency room, a couple of residents were over in the corner discussing his vital signs. As they mentioned some figures, my son said through his broken teeth, "Oh, Mom, good number ... product of two primes."

That made tears pop into my eyes because I knew my little uber-nerd was still in there, despite the trauma to his head.

Later in the week a doctor was asking him questions like, "Who is the president?" and "What month is it?" His brother said, "Ask him to factor his room number." Which he did and which was enough for that doctor.

Love your example.
