I have been asking for help in my math problems yet some people just answer that they won't answer or do my HOMEWORK even though it's not homework at all...They are too narrow minded I just wanna compare my answers to theirs...it's even tiring to type the questions in math especially exponents.

So, why is this site called answers.yaoo.com whenin fact people don't answer well...they even insult others instead of helping them. I just want to voice out my opinion. Thank you for listening.

The manager of a large apartment complex knows from experience that 100 units will be occupied if the rent is 320 dollars per month. A market survey suggests that, on the average, one additional unit will remain vacant for each 5 dollar increase in rent. Similarly, one additional unit will be occupied for each 5 dollar decrease in rent. What rent should the manager charge to maximize revenue?

The answer I got was 460 but that doesn't seem right at all.
Any help? Suggestions?
Thanks!

I've read somewhere that a variable under the division bar, which is in the denominator, can not be a polynomial. I even don't know why. Help?

What about the letter c question, the variable "x" is located parallel to the division bar which is between the numerator and denominator. Is that still a polyomial?

What is the definition of proof? I would like to prove that square root 2 is rational, reaching to the conclusion that it's actually irrational instead, just to go through the process of proof because I don't understand what the book is telling me. We skipped the page but I believe I should go over it because it is important to go through the problem solving process.
book just gives unorganized steps and its not even details, i would like to put it in 2 colums like geometry. how can i do that?
assume that square root 2 is rational.
then square root 2 can be expressed as p/q where p and q are integers.

assume that p/q is in its lowest terms.

let p/q = square root 2

squaring p^2/q^2 = 2 (canceling out the root)
so p^2=2q^2

this is where i got lost... it said p^2 is even, then p must also be even so one can write
p=2m where m is an integer
4m^2 = 2q^2 (substituting p^2 = 2q^2)
2m^2=q^2
so q^2 s even and therefore q is even. but if both p and q are even then p/q is not low term
