Well, milligrams is a unit of weight and a teaspoon is a volume, so they really can't be compared.

However... A metric teaspoon is 5 millilitres (ml) (which is 5 milligrams of water, because the density of water is 1). Similarly, a metric tablespoon is 20 millilitres (ml).
