For 0 < x < 1, the expression x^x^x^x^x.... oscillates between two values B < A, where A = x^x^x^x^... with an even number of terms and B = x^x^x^x^x... with an odd number of terms. For example, 0^0 = 1, while 0^0^0 = 0^(1) = 0. Show that for small x approaching 0, the infinite expression x^x^x^x.... approaches 0.

in an effort to better understand how calculus works (instead of just solving problems), i have a maybe simple-maybe difficult question to ask regarding u substitution.

In integration, when you set something equal to u, why must you take du/dx. How exactly does that work? To make my Q clearer, here is an example.

definite integral of [(3x^2 + 2x)/(x^3 + x^2)]dx

u = x^3 + x^2
du = (3x^2 + 2x) dx <-----------what exactly is going on here??

integral du/u is ln|u| so answer is ln|x^3 + x^2|...

Sorry if this question sucked, but I really would like to know more in depth...

Solve for X:

1) log(x) + log(x-3) = 1

2) e^(3k) = 5

3) ln(y) = 2t - 3

I thought I had a handle on this log stuff, but i guess not or are these problems just really complex??

The Altadorian Archives are the repository of all Altadorian knowledge, science, and history. Thousands of books and scrolls populate its shelves. Amongst these books is the huge, multi-volume Encyclopedia Altadoria, volumes 1 through 9950.
The archivist misplaced his shopping list inside one of the books. He has a handy way to remember which volume he placed it in, though. The volume number was a four-digit number, in which all four digits were unique. If you take the largest possible four-digit number that can be made by rearranging the four digits, and you subtract from that the smallest possible four-digit number that can be made by rearranging the four digits, the number you get is volume number, but with the digits in reverse order.
In what volume of the Encyclopedia Altadoria did he leave his shopping list?
You don't have to give me the answer, I would just like some help

The solutions of line n are (3, -3), (5, -5), (15, -15), (34, -34), (678, -678), and (1234, -1234).

Form the equations of both the lines.
What are the co-ordinates of the point of intersection of lines m and n?
Write the co-ordinates of the intersections of lines m and n with the x-axis.
Write the co-ordinates of the intersection of lines m and n with the y-axis.

I just learned synthetic division today and I'm confused about the zeros. For example in the equation:

(5x^6 - 3x^5 + 2x - 7) divided by (x + 2)
I know there are three zeros when I divide it...BUT WHY?
Please help! D: WHAT are the zeros for?

I also need to find 4 points of intersection and "Show work."
I can easily graph those two in polars, although I'm not positive how to show work while finding intersecting points.

(Keep in mind I'm not in Calculus...so if you have a way with derivatives/integrals...I can't do it :p)

Its me again and i have found myself stuck on another problem. however, i have reason to believe there is no answer to this problem but i want to check first. the problem goes like this:
Sadie is in Algebra II. she has made 82,98,76 and an 80 on four tests. what must she make on the fifth to have an average of 90.

i believe there is no answer because the total of the 4 tests come out to 336. naturally my first guess is that she makes a 100 and with that added to 336 that comes out to 436. however 436 divided by 500 is only an 87. so i believe there is no answer to this. however if there is an answer to this please show all work and how you got your answer
