Ok we do it without using calculator.

1/6 + 2/3 + 1/4
= 2/12 + 8/12 + 3/12
[The lowest common factor of 6, 3 and 4 is 12]
= (2 + 8 + 3) /12
= 13/12 or 1 1/12

find first the least common multiple (LCM) of the denominator..since the denominators are 6,3 and 4.. the LCM will be 12. 12 can be divided among the 3 numbers.. divide the obtain LCM then multiply it to the denominator..
>1/6=12/6*1=2 then copy the LCM.. it now becomes..2/12
>2/3=12/3*2=8/12
>1/4=12/4*1=3/12
since they have now the same denomiator..
you can proceed to addition.
2/12+8/12+3/12=13/12

First, look for the GCF
4, 3, and 6 has a gcf of 12..

so..
(1/6 + 2/3 + 1/4)12

2(1) + 2(4) + 1(3)
------------------------
12
so:
2+8+3/12 =

13
-----
12
