I have two questions.

The first is 24=e(x+1).....where x+1 is an exponent. I know its very simple but i just can't remember how to solve it.

The second is log(4)x=3/2....where 4 is the subscript.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I'm having a tough time with three different problems. Thanks for your help!

1. In the equation (1/5)^m x (1/4)^8 = 1/(2(10)^35), what is m? According to the book, m=35. Could you please explain how they got that answer?

2. Two circles with a diameter of 1 are connected by 15 ft. conveyer belt. What is the distance between the centers of the two circles. The answer is supposed to be (15-pi)/2. Please explain.

3. Finally, I'm having problems with addition and subtraction of numbers with exponents. For example, 10^8-10^2 / 10^7 - 10^3. The answer is 10, but is there an easy way to solve this question w/o multiplying it all out on a calculator?

Thanks for your help!
