you didnt even work them out.
3x+4=12 .... x= 2.6
-3x+4=-12...x = -5.3

These are all different algebraic equations and the solutions are not given. The first one is solved thus:
3x + 4 = 12
3x = 8
x = 8/3
The second:
-3x + 4 = -12
-3x = -16
x = 16/3
The third:
3x - 4 = -12
3x = -8
x = -8/3
The fourth:
-3x - 4 = 12
-3x = 16
x = -16/3

Yes...negative and positive is negative, negative and negative is positive, positive and positive is positive.
