Same Q, different time: Binomials, trinomials? Differences of squares, differences of cubes? Are there certain steps for any of these? Any easy formulas that will make it so much easier? I freaking hate them!... Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it :)

(X^2-X^2)=(X^2-X^2)
(DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 2 SQUARES)(X-X)(X+X)=(TAKE A COMMON FACTOR)X(X-X)
DIVIDE BOTH SIDES BY (X-X)
(X+X)=X
2X=X...........DIVIDE BOTH SIDES BY X
2=1!!!!!!!!!!!!! IS THAT POSSIBLE ??IF NOT DO YOU KNOW WHATS WRONG WITH THE CALCULATIONS ?!BTW ALL THE MATH OPERATIONS ARE CORRECT!

A car starts on a 100mile trip @ 1pm and averages 35 mph over narrow side roads until it reaches the highway, where it averages 50 mph for the rest of the trip. If the entire trip takes 2.5 hours, at what time does the car reach the highway?

x/2 < 2/3 (x+3)

the x/2 and 2/3 are fractions. This problem is under Solving Inequalities with variables on both sides of the equation. I came up with the answer x >-0.444 and my dad tried it and he came up with x > -12

If you come up with an answer please show how you did it so i can see what happened. It's kinda complicated considering I have the hardest time with fractions in equations. I'd appreciate the help! Thanks guys!

NO! The thing said I deleted my question when in reality I did no such thing. I've seen it happen on other forums but I though Yahoo would be better than this. PS, even though upon further examantion my conclution was false, the answer was not, in fact 50*25. Good try though.
