Consider a ten-digit number with the following properties: each digit from 0-9 occurs in the number exactly once. The number itself is divisible by ten. If you remove the last digit, the nine-digit number so formed is divisible by nine. If you remove the last two digits, the eight-digit number so formed is divisible by eight. If you remove the last three digits, the seven digit number so formed is divisible by seven, and in general the n-digit number formed from the first n digits is divisible by n. Call any number with all of these properties Pascalian. Now the question:

Part A: List all the Pascalian numbers, if any exist.
Part B: Show, by human-verifiable proof, that such a list is exhaustive.

You may wish to make use of the following information in solving this problem: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divisibility_rule

Good luck.

I'm gong to be taking a "take home final" in my third quarter calculus class (spanning from 12 noon Monday until 12 noon Wednesday). I have reason to believe that it will have many proofs related mostly to sequences/series. Unfortunately, that is an area in which I struggle. If anyone would be so kind as to help me (on any problems that I have), I would be so... so grateful. BTW, I'm a tutor in physics, so if you help me with my dilemma I can (at least attempt) to help you with physics related problems (and around the world goes).

Someone is selling the idea of increased odds to win the uk lottery ,he says:

main , stars , odds
5 ,,,,,,,,,, 2 ,,,,,,,,,1 in 76,275,360
5 ,,,,,,,,,,, 1,,,,,,,,,,1 in 5,448,240
5 ,,,,,,,,,,,,0,,,,,,,,,,1 in 3,632,160
4 ,,,,,,,,,,,,2,,,,,,,,,,1 in 339,002

Claiming that this shows that getting the star numbers right improves the odds more than getting the other numbers right.
Is this true, or is this a con (as well as a fools deal !)
