A ball player hits a home run, and the baseball just clears a wall 8.00 m high located 106.7 m from home plate. The ball is hit at an angle of 36.2 degrees to the horizontal, and air resistance is negligible. Assume the ball is hit at a height of 1.1 m above the ground. What is the initial speed of the ball in m/s?

I won't to avoid mentioning Fourier or Laplace. I would like a simple way of deriving this. Perhaps, i can say something about the energy at higher frequencies being attenuated and relate to Coulombs law and electric feild. Any suggestions?

In a 600-MWel-coal-fired power plant, the following coal shall be used for combustion. C = 76 %, H = 5 %, O = 14 %, S = 3.5 %, N = 1.5 % (waf); w = 11 %, a = 14 %, calorific value: Hu = 23,4 MJ/kg. The efficiency of the power plant is to be assumed as 38 %
a) Calculate the mass flow of dry air for full load for a by 70 % overstochiometric combustion (fluidised bed firing system).
b) Calculate the mass flows of the constituents of the flue gas.
c) The desulphurisation is done with a rather cheap mineral called dolomite (CaMg(CO3)2) which is given to the fluidised bed reactor and spent in large quantities (four times stochiometric quantity). How much dolomite is consumed? How much gypsum is created?

I'm interested in slip-and-fall problems with
polished marble floors.

Safety experts say that polished marble has a
static coefficient of friction ("SCOF" -- the key
measure of slipperiness, a higher level being
better) of between .4 and .5.

But Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA")
recommendations call for level walkways
with a SCOF of .6 or better.

So how do builders and developers
who use polished marble in public lobbies
manage to ignore or to comply with the ADA
requirements?

If they can't get the SCOF of standard polished
marble above .5, wouldn't they risk legal suits?

Or can builders and developers use some
sort of additive or chemical agent that
preserves the beauty of the polished marble,
but raises the SCOF to a more acceptable
level of .6 or better?

Are there any books or articles on this topic?

Are there any recognized experts?

Or is mastery of these issues solely a matter
of extensive personal experience?

Many thanks for ANY useful advice!

Hello. I am taking an Engineering Introduction class in college, and our project is to build a truss bridge that can sustain a 2000 lb load. The length is 24 in exactly, and the height and width can not be more than 5 inches. Its a two parallel symmetrical level truss bridge. Do you have any advice before my group starts on the project building? Thanks.

Hi all...i am mixing epoxy ( viscousity 50,000 ) with tiny magnetic particles. I am using hand mixing. For small amount, there is no problem, but for larger amount I am facing some problems. most of the time metal particles are deposited at the bottom of container. It is importent for me to mix both evenly as I have to add controlled amount of magnetic particles. I can not place the shaft-end to be touching as there will be friction between shaft-end and bottom of container.but I place it as near as possible. What I need is to scoop up those deposited at bottom at certain frequency. I dont want to do it manually as the amount is large. Now I am using Anchor stirrer and still facing those kind of problems. Please recommend me some type of shaft which can mix material bottom to top..Thanks...

Like for example what's physical of an electric toothbrush or like the physics of how a scyscraper is built. What im having trouble finding is the physics of an owl flying. Like what's physical about that? The way it flaps it's wings? Please help i need this.
