something small, i need it for science fair and i really need help, so please help me

You might have some difficulty getting quicklime, but if this is just for demonstration, and you can live with lower efficiency, plaster of paris also gets at least warm when combined with water.

Well, you had better define what a self-heating system means to you, because it can be nonsense (like perpetual motion) or it can mean a self contained heater which can be catalytic butane or a thermo couple heating/cooling plate like used on CPU cooling modules and car food boxes.
