I need some help for some medical research. i want to measure the "negative" pressure generated by small syrignes of about volume 5 -10 ml I have a digitron 2082 differential manometer for this. My problem is that there is some dead space between the syringe and the measuring membrane, and i feel that it may influence the results, becuase the air in the dead space may expand. how can i get rid of this dead space? can i fill it with water, or is there some other liquid that i can use with out damaging the manometer ?

for example, if 1.5 V with a current discharge of 500mA is it going to last longer than a 1.5V with a current discharge of 1 A? or does the voltage determine the battery?

Here goes the question again. , For the sake of illustrating the impact we are having on the planet, What I would like to know is, based on the number of ALL vehicles worldwide that burn petroleum based fuel, including cars, ships, equipment, planes, etc PLUS smokestacks from factories, power plants, etc, what would be the cumulative size of all of these exhaust pipes, represented as one huge pipe. Also we could, with some more difficulty figure out an average of how many of these engines are running at any given time and just calculate the diameter of that imaginary exhaust pipe, spewing out pollutants. The physics handbook http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2001/MarinaStasenko.shtml lists one figure of 600 million cars worldwide. At an estimated average exhaust diameter of 1.5 inches, times that figure, the imaginary tailpipe of just vehicles alone would be 14,000 miles across? (I must be figuring this wrong!!!) Please help! Im doing an assignment for college on Robert Boyle.. I just cant find a simple explination or definition for his law in terms that I can actually understand..

Boyles law:

"Volume and pressure of an ideal gas held at a constant temperature"

This simply means nothing to me..

Can anyone simplify it into easier words?

i have problems with the bottle producer. whatever i design, even if the proportion are looking allright, the quantity of liquid is wrong. so basically i need, after designing, to verify the quantity of liquid the bottle contains. Thank :-)

Am seriously interested in purchasing a torsional pendulum clock - must have all parts and the dome in good condition. And must have the winding key.
I am a watch enthusiast and would like to study the working of this clock. It doesn't matter if the clock isn't working but must be in a repairable condition. Please let me know if you are interested or let a friend who has such a clolck and willing to sell know, Thanks !!!

By the way for those not familiar this type of clock has a rotational rather than a swinging pendulum. The pendulum hangs on a fine suspension wire.

I'm in the process of building my first wind turbine and was curious if running it without a load (ie. battery bank) would be harmful to the generators? I'm using a 260VDC 5A permanent magnet treadmill motor as the generator. I'm about ready to put up my tower and wasn't sure if I can go ahead and get it all assembled and put up and then add the battery bank as soon as I can get the batteries. This way I could also see how well it's going to perform on the tower. It's a 60' lattice tower and will be hinged at the bottom but still will be a bit of a pain to lower and raise a lot. I'm really excited about getting this up and running but don't want to damage anything before I even get started.

Also I've heard of people using old electric baseboard heaters as a load dump when the bank gets fully charged. I'm having some trouble locating any of these around here and was wondering if anyone would have any other suggestions on something I could use as a dump? Thanks for all your time.
