Potentially millions if you cut into a high density Optical Carrier line. These can carry millions of phone calls..........

Actually this happens sometimes and it slows down the internet when a line is cut to an internet backbone.

The costs can be HUGE. Well in excess of $100,000.

The fiber optic company is going to likely replace an entire stretch of cable, not just splice the break back together. The material and labor is not cheap.

Then comes the costs associated with loss of revenue because the communication lines are down.

Happens all the time. Repair costs are a couple of thousand dollars plus damages for lost communications.
