I have a co-worker who feeds the plants on her desk with coffee now and then. She says the pH or the nitrogen content of the coffee makes the leaves of the plant shinier and greener. Is there anything to this, or could coffee hurt a plant somehow? Has anyone heard of anyone else doing this?

PS: She doesn't give the plants coffee exclusively. She waters them too, but occasionally gives them a little of the room-temperature coffee left in her mug after she's done drinking it. She drinks it black, so there's no sugar or creamer in there.
