We did not have the technology in 1968 to accomplish a moon landing. Looking at pictures of the LEM makes me feel that we were so naive at the time. I downloaded all NASA schematics and guess what... no fuel. So how the hell did we get back.

AFAIK, all the planets orbit around the sun in the same 2d plane, perhaps with minor fluctuations.

I wanted to know why this was so. It sure seems coincidental and quite fantastic.

Do we have the 4 seasons because the sun is not exactly in the centre of earths orbit and so the distance changes from the sun as we go from summer to winter ?

Thanks

Our Universe is defined as an infinite space (endless) by many. Wouldn't you need space to create space?

My husband loves stars and planets and such. I really want to get him a telescope for under $200. I would like for him to be able to see more than just Mars and the Moon. Maybe even supernovas. I have no idea what to look for or good name brands. Please help!

Ever had any encounter with UFO? I personally had seen a metalic flying object that didn't seem to have wings during a trip at Austrialia's countryside. Still wondering could it be UFO...

Do you believe in UFO?

Hey there,
Reading a book today, I stumbled upon a section where the expansion of the universe was discussed. The numbers were not constant, and although I did not get to finish, there is something that puzzled me. At a certain point, the book talked about an expansion rate of 70 kilometers per second per megaparsec. As far as I figured, a parsec is 3.26 light years, and a megaparsec is one million times that numbers. However, what exactly does it mean to expand per second per megaparsec? Any explanations pertaining to the topic will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Any suggestions? If Alpha is the informal name, then why isn't it the official name? What about naming it after Galileo, Kepler, Yuri Gagarin, or even Christa McAuliffe?

This might sound like a silly question, a very silly question... but why are the orbits of all the planets and dwarf planets alike, around the sun, in the same direction?
