I am in Suffolk England and the time is 23.48. Outside the sky is crystal clear and cold as hell. If I look straight up I can see a fuzzy blob with the naked eye which is very clear with binoculars.

The highest-velocity stars an astronomer might observe have velocities of about 400 km/s. What change in wavelength would this cause in the Balmer gamma line?

do you think there is life on this planet? many experts have already said it lies in it's stars habitable zone and it would have had longer to evolve than we have, it's star is one of the oldest in the galaxy, some experts also said "we wouldn't be surprised if there was life on this planet" (or something along those lines)

Consider this recent report, on Yahoo News:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20071115/sc_space/incrediblecometbiggerthanthesun

Okay....I actually do have a somewhat serious question about this. What would happen if we, on Earth, *hit* the comet somehow?(um, I think that's how the grammar would parse, sorry) What if we hit the radically exploded coma, or dust cloud, of this thing? Assume that we don't hit the core, since we know what that's like (the Tunguska explosion over that Russian forest).

--Would it be a disaster?
--Would it be a total non-issue, like running over the Biggest Dust Bunny Ever (that is, something we don't even notice)?
--Would it be something else entirely? (like a cool light show that lasts for *weeks on end*, or a source of atmospheric contamination)

And...I'm sorry, but "dust bunny" doesn't cut it now. ^_^ Dust Eagle (like what you get from a ceiling fan occasionally)? Dust Mastodon? Dust Leviathan? What metaphor works now?

Thanks for your time.

Okay now I am not sure if I believe in aliens or not...but I guess I do find it hard to believe that we are the only living things in this entire universe. Recently, in upstate new york (I now live in nyc, but used to be from the buffalo, niagara falls area) there have been more and more sightings of possible ufos, especially over the power plant, which generates electricity for most of the east coast. Could this source of energy and the powerful falls itself be an attraction to these "ufos?"

I have been seeing overwelming evidence that we aren't along. Wow, what a concept. I was just wondering if anyone knew when this Disclosure event would be taking place so that we can start researching them and their free energy technology.
