do you think there is life on this planet? many experts have already said it lies in it's stars habitable zone and it would have had longer to evolve than we have, it's star is one of the oldest in the galaxy, some experts also said "we wouldn't be surprised if there was life on this planet" (or something along those lines)

(to spaceguy), what makes you think it will be for future generations to know? don't get me wrong, space is one of my favourite subjects and I do know what I'm talking about but are you seriously telling me that scientists have absolutely no way of detecting any signs of life at all on this planet?

They may not be suprised to find life on the planet, but we have no way to determine if there is life on the planet. Our observations can only give us the most basic details of the planet. Its size and composition are about the most we can get for now. It is much to early to determine if there is life on the planet. Of course, it is fun to speculate.

Remote detection of life with our current technology is impossible - at least definitive proof is. The best we could do right now is to spectrascopically show that there are elements and compounds on the planet which indicate that life is present, but just because organic compounds exist at a place doesn't mean that life is responsible.

Titan, Saturn's largest moon has a thick methane atmosphere, but no life has been detected there.

The other problem with viewing remote planets is the glare of their parent stars. Isolating the light from the planet is difficult, and will be required before we can even perform the spectrascopy I mention.

If we can get telescope technology advanced enough to actually view the planet in question and see something as tell-tale as lights coming from the planet's night side, then we would have something a little more conclusive.

haha no earth-like planet has been discovered yet yet Gliese D has been located 20 gentle years away around the Gliese celeb. it quite is around the liveable zone so human beings only anticipate that it may be Earthlike. the percentages are that this planet is only yet another rock like the numerous we've in our own image voltaic equipment, no longer something specific approximately it. yet whilst for some reason it has water, it would then have a threat of being liquid depending on the place it exchange into on the floor. With water, it has a threat of OUR form of existence (Carbon based water eating organisms). Its unlike they observed this planet and took photos of it. They have been waiting to estimate a mass and length with the aid of complicated measurements of the celeb's wobble. Scientists think of it quite is 2x the size of Earth and IF (probable no longer) there have been organisms, they might probable be larger because of the fact they're tormented by the gravity of a much bigger planet. it is that in the event that they're our varieties of existence.
