When you see a picture of the planet Jupiter, you see bands of colour, the red spot etc. But if the planet outter is mainly gas, why hasn't the gas mixed completely and left the planet appearing as a single colour?

If I took several colours of paint and mixed them, you'll see colour swirles, but eventually I'll be left with one colour. Ok, Jupiter is a very large planet, but surely over millions of years the colours should have murged?

Why is the Hubble Space Telescope considered to give the best images in the visible when telescopes such as the Keck 10 m telescopes have almost five times larger mirrors?.

Let's say I built a time machine and travelled back in time to, lets say 10 years before I was born. I find my mother and kill her. Is this possible? I believe it isn't. That would mean she never gave birth to me. Therefore, how could I kill her? In fact, how could I exist at all to have built a time machine?

Which probably will never happen, but think with me for a second...

What would a clear night look like?

Would half of the sky be Saturn's ring just stretching for miles? It would be a beautiful sight if so. Possibly the most beautiful sight that I can imagine at least.

And also, Mars... When we do put humans there... Does anyone know if there are plans to set up a telescope there? Would it be possible to get a clearer view of Pluto, and possibly even discover other celestial bodies that we cannot see from Earth?

Kennedy announced we were going to the moon in the 60s and we took 8 years to do it. Bush announced in 2004 that we'd be back to the moon by 2020. Why does it take so long? Russians and Chinese have announced they will do it by 2025.

So the question is WHY DOES WE TAKE SO LONG to go back??

But in schools I see they are still teaching nine plants in the solar system plus planet "X".

Whats the story, the name of plant "X" and what should we be teaching in our schools on ths subject.?

Thank you for your input

Is there some kind of reaction we can create so oxygen is always being created without us always monitoring it?

Mars seems like the only other planet humans can inhabit. The atmosphere is stable and isn't rough like other planets in our Solar system.

Given latitude and the time of year, how do you calculate day length? Am I right in understanding that day length changes fastest around the equinoxes and slowest around the solstices, so linear regression is not possible.
