He was a famous astronomer. He invented the Hubble's telescope. But he is famous for finding the Hubble's law(by your hint). He gave the Big-Bang Theory and I think that's what he famous for. He was the one who discovered Andromeda galaxy.

Hubble first discovered that Andromeda is not a nebula, but another galaxy he first figured to be over a million light-years away; that increased the size of the known universe at the time ten fold. He then observed that all galaxies that are relatively distant form us are moving away from us, evidencing the expanding universe theory known now as the Bid Bang.

Hubble discovered red shift, the movement of lines of absorption in the spectra of stars and more distant objects, including galaxies and such. The shift is caused by the doppler effect, which you experience with sound every time you stand near a road and listen to the rising pitch of a cars engine as it approaches and the lowering pitch as it recedes. This is caused by the compression of the sound waves as the car approaches, and their stretching as it recedes.

The red shift proved that these objects were receding from us in every direction. at a rate proportionate to distance. This established that the entire universe is expanding, and, once accepted as established principle, allowed astronomers to determine the distance to newly discovered objects more quickly.
