Astronomy & Space - April 2007

[Selected]: All categories Science & Mathematics Astronomy & Space

Description:

Appearance: Looks like a star, but much smaller and very dim. A constant white light. No blinking. No 'tail'.

Movement: In a perfect, straight line, gently sloping upwards.

Speed: The speed of an aircraft, perhaps.

(Notes: I know I have seen other unusual things before, but this 'object' differs from the last one I saw. I hope to hear from others who have had similar experiences.)

According to the theory of relativity, objects that are moving near light speeds tend to shrink as per the Lorentz -Fitzgerald number((1-v^2/c^2)^1/2). If the object shrinks, then which 'force' or 'effect' is responsible for the act. For example, we call the force that acts between two objects as gravitational force. Similarly, which force or effect comes in to the picture here?

if you have a technology that could shield a ship in space from its own mass makeing it seems as though it had the mass of a molicule or less then you should be able to push it toward near the speed of light since it would seem as though it had no mass. IM just thinking this might be how aliens travel at the speed of light or you know close to it. they would have no problems because of the time dialation. they say if you wanted to travel near the speed of light you would need tons of energy. but it would be like scaleing it down to moveing a single molicule with all the power of a nuclear power plant. its interesting because they have been able to produce fields where the objects in the field lose weight. so in space if this was perfected it would be like reduceing the effect of its mass.

Earth spinning on its axis closer to the supersonic speed, so the spinning at high speed should generate humming sound. The phenomenon is like a flywheel that generates a humming noise while spinning through Air. In case of the earth, it spins along with the entire atmosphere, so I'm unable to make out if it really produces the sound. Any clue please..?

basically, is it possible because of gravity to shoot moon rocks from the moon to earth - I also have access (metaphorically...) to a medieval cannon, should the need arise.
