if you would like to get an idea as to the scale of star lengths, then do this little project.

-Grab yourself two basketballs, a quarter, and a pin.
-Find a nice, open field, put one of the basketballs down. This is the sun.
-walk about 50 yards, place the quarter on the ground. This is the Earth
-stick your thumb on the ground so that the tip is touching the quarter. stick the pin in the ground on the other side of your thumb. That's the moon.
-Take the second basketball, walk a good 140 miles, and set it on the ground. That is proxima centauri, our closest neighbor. Might want to pack a lunch for this one.
-If you wanted to map out the galaxy on this scale, you would need an area roughly the size of the continental United States. The solar system alone would be the length of about 10 football fields.

In other words, the answer to your homework is FALSE!
