Astronomy & Space - February 2007

If space is a vacum, and gravity is described as a result or distortion of space and time. Surely space is not like a flat blanket with the earth resting on the blanket. Surely their are celestial bodies in all directions of the earth, below above, left and right. What holds the earth in this plane? If earth is held by the gravity of the Sun, what holds the Sun? From falling etternally or floating eternally in an aimless direction?

We are taught that when we see a star at night,it twinkles because atmospheric disturbances interfere in its path. But,why doesn't it disturb the light coming from the planets?

Since I'm most familiar with christianity, (any religion can answer), are you just scared of what will happen to you if you aren't obedient or are you just full of love? I mean, how many people would actually do what they feel is natural if they didn't worry about a one-way ticket to Fireland?

Have you ever thought of it? Space is so big.. literally takes a million years to get about 1/1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000....ect. of the way out of space..

other life HAS to exist out there.. it can't just be earth

does anyone think that life exsists outside of earth and does anyone know where i can find scientific actual websites on this theory?
thanks, feel free to give your thoughts

Before the universe existed there was nothingness, no space, no time, no matter to be formed or expanded?

How can something form from complete nothingness? How can time and space be formed from nothing?

all this is created from a higher creator? maybe there was no before the universe, it was always here with no beginning? Maybe none of this is real?

What do you think?

I read somewhere that the sun revolves around the milkyway, is this correct?
Does the milkyway move at all...?
When the sun moves, is it always orbiting the same pathway? Or does it continue to orbit the milkway but have the milkway move and therefor always be in a different spot?

Im asking this because if the Earth Orbits the Sun, and the Sun orbits the milkway, does the milkway orbit something or move at all?
If it does, that could mean we are traveling all around space and never be in the same spot in space.

Maybe in thousands of years, if we move with the milkway we may discover something. Something different in space... maybe we could colide with another solar system? Or get caught in another solar systems orbit?

That question probably confused everyone cause im not good with my words, but please try and answer it...
thanks
