When the sun is dead, gone, burned out, or however you'd like to put it, what is going to happen to earth and the other planets.? Well they still be pulled by the sun's gravity, or will they just fly off course?

my idea is about high-speed space travel. currently, it takes years for our space probed to reach objects within our solar system. this is too long. if we went faster, it would take less time to get there. so why don't we go faster? because we're limited to what we bring with us as far as feul, weight, etc. so I thought of a way to make better use of the fuel that we can already bring into orbit. it requires very complex engineering but it should work.
let's say we launch a space ship(probe) into orbit. after escaping earth's gravity there is a limited supply of fuel left to provide the thrust which will propell the probe to regions of space. say that amount of fuel is a million gallons. this number does not reflect the needed fuel for slowing down or the return trip. so we have a million gallons of fuel that we'll use to accelerate to our cruising speed. so we put the pedal to the metal until we burn all that fuel. let's say that process takes a day. so for 1 day we're accelerating

According to general relativity by Einstein, the space - time is curved...then why planets are not revolving in circular orbits?...

If the sun warms up the Earth and other planets, does that mean the universe is warm and not this cold place we imagine? Also how come we don't see pictures of the sun when people are on the moon and above the Earth? If its so big how come we dont see it in pictures?

On the star charts in the back of the book, the green area that represents the Milky Way Galaxy hides the circular representations of the stars. The designations (Greek letters) are still visible, but the stars are missing. Are all copies of this edition defective, or just mine?

I thought this even before we discovered that living creatures in the deepest part of the ocean can live beyond boiling point.
We we're always told that creatures can't live beyond boiling point and now we know the truth.
I don't believe there are any limits as well as time through space is unlimited.
So know really think about it.
As hot as the sun is .......could there be creatures that are built to handle that atmosphere?
Just a thought.

The earth was flat but now it's not
The moon was cheese but now it's not
I think you understand the point I'm trying to get across.

I've noticed on here many people have been asking about the Mayan Calender ending December 21, 2012. 2012 is NOT the end of the world and I would suggest you stay away from any books telling you how you could survive. Huge Scam. 2012 in Mayan calender is when Quetzalcoatl, the mayan feathered serpent their god is to return to earth and unite all of mine kind into a universal belief. It's also the darkest day of the year and its the end of a 5000 year cycle when all of the planets align on the milky way.

Anyways, I thought I'd clear this up. IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!!!

The telescope was set up and pointed at Venus. My mother can see the planet clearly yet when I put my eye to it, it is just blackness. I do wear glasses and I tried it with glasses, no glasses and contacts. The same each time. We even tried pointing it at a street light, same problem. Can some people just not see through a telescope?

The moon goes around the earth and the earth around sun on the same plane.

Looking at this plane from sideways-on and considering a cross-section of the gravitational potential well that the sun creates, then doesn't the moon have to effectively move "up-hill" to get from the sun side of the earth to the other as it goes through its orbit?

Does the moon then travel faster on sun side that on the other side of the earth?

If it is the centre of gravity of the combined earth-moon system that follows an eliptical orbit around the sun, then, do both the earth and moon speed up and slow down in their mutual orbits around that point?
