Why won't we start life on mars now?
Taking green house gases up there and building huge mirrors and stuff.

I mean, scientist know how the earth started to form, why not do the same since we do have the technology?

Do you believe that lensing is from:
a) light being attracted to a planet's gravity.
b) light conforming to the shape of space which is distorted because of the planet's mass.
c) there is no such thing as lensing. it is an optical illusion.

For many yearas now, many astronomers have wanted to view these planets directly beyond the sun. With naked telescope, this is a tough task. Viewing a planet next to a bright star like our solar systems own Sun is almost impossible. It' like trying to spot a lighted match held up next to a car's high beam.

hi,
I have a growing interest in astronomy, and although I have little background in physics, chemistry and biology, I have done well in each of them. However, lately I have found these to be a bit dry and have wanted to take classes on astronomy, unfortunately my school does not offer any such direct class. Does anyone know of some good websites where I can start with th ebasics and move onto more complex astronomy material on my own time, like a class though? Thank You.

Do you believe in aliens, and/or what are your opinions on them.

Mine is....... Yes, I believe in them...... It only makes sense because if the universe goes on forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and etc............ There has to be other lifeforms besides us humans. I also believe that there are more worlds just like ours....

If humans ever build a permanent base on the Moon, spaceships will fly back and forth carrying cargo and people. Will it require more energy, less energy or the same amount of energy to lift a spaceship off the Earth than to lift the same ship off the Moon? Explain.

I believe it's because :::

It would require more energy to lift a spaceship off the Earth than to lift the same ship off the Moon. This is because the Moon has no atmosphere but the Earth does. Because the Moon has so little gravitational attraction, it cannot retain its tenuous atmosphere. Also, the Moon rotates very slowly and has a small iron core. Combining these two elements causes the Moon to not have a strong magnetic field; the Earth does.

Am I right?
