Does the full moon affect certain people across the globe? I've heard that it affects animals, but humans are essentially animals. I've also heard that it does make some people feel "weird" or "different". What is your opinion?

On my way home from work, and the sky is clear, traveling east, there is this little light in the sky at about "ten o'clock", that caught my eye.....all the stars were out, but this one IS different!!!!...I am not nuts, but you can see colors...I stopped at the intersection to get a really good look at it...(I live in a rural area, no traffic)....and really really looked at it to see if I was seeing what I was seeing.....it is brighter sort of than the stars, lower than the stars, and the "colors" look red and blue... and it isn't a plane, it doesn't move, but the "colors" seem to sort of "move".....I live very close to Ft.Campbell, about 40 min away, so I guess it could be a military thing....but it is in the same spot for almost 4 weeks now....I showed my boss it, and he said it may be a planet......anyone have any sound and not smart alec input???????

It is understood that Minimum temperature in any part of Universe is -273 Degree Centigrade = zero degree kelvin. Is it correct? If so how it is calculated? If not what does -273 Degree centigrade indicate?

... or at least never noticed any of them visiting us?
I was just thinking, if humans can ever travel back in time then it's reasonably safe to say that they would visit during this century or the last century. But then again if they impacted our times enough then perhaps it would alter the path of time enough such that they would have never gone back in time in the first place or at least their time-travelling would have been different which would then negate the previous visit and so on... What do you guys think? Confusing stuff...

Why is the January 1st at this time of a year
chosen as the beginning of the new year rather than any other day during the one-year cycle, e.g. the winter solstice? The shortest day or the longest day.

So regarding the idea that the universe is set up like a doughnut, where if you go long enough in one direction, that you'll end up in the same place again. How would that work? Would there be an infinite number of giant interconnected doughnuts to make up space?

Would this be a spherical plane (I'm sure that this isn't the right terminology, but I forgot what it's called. like the plane over the earth...) in three dimensions? I've heard before that the universe can't be a Euclidian space, so does that mean that it has to be parabolic or the sphere one? or is there another kind of plane that I don't know about?

Sorry that's a lot of questions in one.

My father is an astronomer and told us about Saturn's transit of the Crab Nebula. His team (he said this at the dinner table) observed Titan from the Chandra X-ray Observatory. Can anyone tell me what they discovered about Titan? I have-and still do not- have a clue.

My dad and me like to star gaze. We both see these small faint lights or sometimes large and bright and it moves across the sky. They have no sound or silhouette of this object just the light moving across the sky. We live in the south west part of Virginia so if there anyone else who see these or have a clue what they are please reply.

With so much literature flying around outside. i came across the mention that on increasing mag the details diminshes and the picture gets less sharper. While I agree with the sharpness I am not sure as to why the details degrad. It does not make practical sense, perhaps Im wrong but I was able to see saturn better with a 10mm eye piece than a 25mm eye piece for a 130mm 650 focal newtonian.

Have heard so many different opinions on this that perhaps I would have to end up buying a pair of barlows to see what is pratically sensible. It would help however is someone having genuinue knoweldge in the field of optics and clearly define and explain the anomoly before I go out spending money on lenses.

Again perhaps using a eyes of shorter focal length to increase mag might be better than barlow due to light bending etc I suppose.

regards

Its been said humans were seeded here on earth by alien races. And, they come back from time to time via UFO sightings by us, to check on our progress. How would you feel if this was discovered to be true, that we are just clones with free will, a seperate race of beings? Try to give an answer OUTSIDE the Bible! This is mainly a thought provoking question!

A synchronous rotation is when the moon or other such object has the same face towards the object which it is a moon of or which it is rotating around.

Our moon is a good example in that as the moon rotates around the Earth it rotates on its axxis in such a way that the same face of the moon faces the Earth. ( I know that there is a extremely slight difference BUT we see basically the same side of the moon )

I rrecently read that most moons have this same property in that the same face of the moon faces the planet or other object which it rotates around.

Is there some well know reason for this and what is it called (if it has a special name ) and or what would I search for other than synchronous rotation
