Most scientists agree that it would be highly unlikely to find life outside this planet that remotely resembles ours. I also personally believe that the UFO phenomena can be explained (so far) without involving the proverbial "little green men", or any alien being for that matter. Nevertheless, I wonder what could happen if we begin to discover signals from different planetary systems, spreaded through the galaxy, carrying greeting messages that clearly shows that our neighbors are anatomically almost identical to us. How this knowledge could affect our science and our beliefs?

Given the rate of global warming, the fact that the world's population is growing so quickly and that we may run out of resources or run into some other calamity before one hundred years is up, and the fact that the technology needed for prolonged survival of humans in space seems pretty far off, I thought of another possibility that I wanted to ask about.

Given the current complexity of computer based technology, artificial intelligence seems like something we might be able to achieve in a reasonable amount of time. Wouldn't a silicon-based life form that could survive in space be a better bet for the continuation of our legacy rather than our survival? Consider also the distance between galaxies and how a silicon based life form could essentially eliminate the problem of "time" in space travel because of its relative immortality and the fact that it could reproduce needed parts by gathering materials; essentially scavengering them. Your thoughts

We can assume that 'now' exists, but it is 'always' now.
We can no more easily interact with one second from now than we can with one year from now.
This dimension - or thing - we call Time, is thought of as Past, Present and Future. Some people even hold on to the hope that the future and past can some day be accessable. But do they even exist?
