assume we could find earthlike planets around other stars, and know we could live there, and assume we could build giant spaceships that could cross the distance in manty years, maybe centuries, and these ship could take many "colonists" with every thing needed to live on the ship for the time needed, and to make the target planet earthlike, would you embark on this one way journey, knowing that you'll live the rest of your life on a crowded spaceship where space around you could be dangerous, and once the ship gets to the other planet, it is not certain that an earth colony could be established

I've heard this post many times but the answeres seem to come down to there is no end, and the universe is spherical. But the universe must have an end because it is constantly expanding.

For those of you that believe it is spherical and once the end it reached you just start again at the beginning but there must be something outside our spherical universe. Just as the earth is a sphere there is something beyond earth, it has a diameter and if you continue beyond the diameter then you get beyond the sphere.
Also i'm not sure if the universe would be a sphere because if there are many different universes then a sphere would leave gaps between each universe so I think the universe would be better thought of as cubic or just continoues for some finite distance?

So any good answeres with some reasoning behind it?

Astronomers are saying that they have seen the light from the premature universe!! How it is possible? Our earth and the galaxy system orginated from that explotion. The speed of light is enormous and no body can travel in that speed. If from earth we are seeing the light from the premature universe then it suggest that all the galaxy system travelled at a speed that is unimaginable, since we are seeing the light started from premature universe many many billons of years before. Or else it suggests that the universe have a sort of closed structure and we are seeing the light travelled in the other way around.

they say the universe has no begining and no end i dont belive so everything has a begining and an end i mean think if you had a time machine that could go 100000000000000 years in time in 1 second on a watch i bet youl see a begining sometime and they say there is no life out there but think about it if you go through a ripple a black hole it can take you to anothor time and reality of our world today like say you could see what the world was like if kerry one
the election just by going 3 light years from the middle of the u.s at exacly 5:00 in to a black hole while you going 900.76 mph to get there

If the earth is spinning in a counter clockwise direction and everyone on the planet ran in the same direction (our feet pushing against the rotation), would our actions slow down the earths rotation?...or should I just forget it and call at a KFC for a family feast?

If I recall correctly, I was told as a student that large stars eventually burn up all thier hydrogen fuel, forge a few of the hevier elements, and then burst into a super-nova, generating a cloud of other hevier elements.

Supposedly, this cloud becomes a nebula, and new stars and planetary systems form from it.

So here's my problem: where is all the hydrogen coming from the create these new stars? Supposedly the old star ran out of the stuff.

This implies that either the new stars are drastically, collosally smaller, or that there is some fission process going on, of which I was not previously aware.

So what's going on here?
