If the earth is spinning in a counter clockwise direction and everyone on the planet ran in the same direction (our feet pushing against the rotation), would our actions slow down the earths rotation?...or should I just forget it and call at a KFC for a family feast?

Theoretically, yes it would slow the rotation some minute amount when everyone started running. It would speed up again by the same amount when they stopped. I'm pretty sure the change wouldn't be measurable.

Well best not to call KFC (lol) because if the Earth span the opposite way it would cause us to slow down for a few minutes causing you to have to wait longer for KFC.

Man you are in for one hell of a day. Slow down the earth's rotation, go get kfc anyway, sue them for millions when they make you fat, and then lose on the basis that anytime food comes in a bucket, you should know it will make you fat. Rock on dude.

And would those Chinese cause enough of a jolt in the Earth to make you lose your footing and drop all of that lovely KFC everywhere? Better go straight to bed!

it would take a lot of force against the earths inertia, it would take a lot more than all the people running. if i were you I'd forget about it and call KFC.

The mass of 6.5 billion people is negligible compared to the mass of the earth.

A better question is if all 1.3B Chinese jumped off a 6 foot ladder simultaneously, could they create a soliton wave that would destroy the US?

i'd go for a kfc...i don't think that we as humans physicaly are large enough to influence the earth's rotation...remember mother nature is pretty powerful

If KFC is counter-clockwise from where you are, you should get there quicker
