The Law of Conservation of Mass says that matter can be neither created nor destroyed. (This is also true for energy) The Big Bang theory suggests that at the beginning of time (and the universe) a single atom appeared from nowhere. My questions are: How did the atom just "appear?" How do we know that this atom wasn't created by some higher power (deity). Note:I'm trying to understand the Big Bang better, so no negative comments, please.

Or is it instantaneous? Also are what we see in the sky that we term stars all like the sun or are some planets and if so where is the light coming from and how is it relfected to us. does the earth glow like a star from another planets perspective?

Ok the other night i was siting on my couch and i started feelin wierd. Then next thing I know I was watching the space shuttle going up. It started to curve backwards really far. Then the red fuel tank unhooked and rocketed towards the ground. Then the space shuttle exploded right before it hit the ground. I thought i was sleeping and it felt like forever. but after only a minute had pasted and looked like i was watching tv. please coment.

I found a telescope with 340X. what is that and is it a powerful telescope or not? please give an example of what you could with that.

i know i'm not one to challenge someone who obtained a doctorate in astronomy, but i mean do any of them really know what the hell they are talking about. they study things that are millions and billions of light-years away or so they say. you see they really don't know, because not many things in astronomy have ever had concrete proof. am i right?
