I think it is, to some extent. I own a Celestron Nexstar 8 telescope that I bought from a woman who said that she could not lug the thing any more. She bought a Meade ETX-90 or something like that.

I did have had some bad luck with Meade telescopes. I used to have a Meade 519 Newtonian which I could not do much with, and the clock drive of the Meade 2045 that I used to take a picture of the Mexican eclipse of 1991 never would work properly. I took it into repair shortly after that eclipse because it was not tracking. Afterwards, there were hard spots in the dialing of right ascension that would prevent the drive from working.

If I had to buy a new telescope, I would consider Celestron or Orion.

That is basically a 4 inch telescope. A little small by modern amateur standards. I have a 6 inch, which was the old standard "advanced" amateur telescope, but now days serious amateurs have 8 inch and larger telescopes. A 4 inch will show the rings of Saturn, Some detail on Jupiter, Maybe the polar ice cap on Mars, but not much more. You will no doubt be disappointed by most nebulae and star clusters, although a few bright ones will be OK. Not like the pictures you always see, but OK. I guarantee you will be disappointed by any galaxy. But it is small, portable and easy to set up quickly. New price is about $850 because it is computer controlled. A good beginning manual telescope of the same size is available for $180 from the second source.

It is a superb telescope. Even for a professional.
Hint: It is another expensive hobby. The view is in the location (very dark) and the eyepieces. Never do the eyepieces that come with the scope give it justice.

Looks good
Good for looking at the local planets, still small but good
Is there anybody local that u can work with?
Check if there is a club locally.
Take it a step at a time,it is not good in the city due to the city lightning, and if the humidity is high it is difficult to see.
Good luck

The scope itself is fine. If it works for you depends on what you want to do with it.

It's small and easy to carry around. It's not expensive. It doesn't have a large lens so it won't see the fainter objects. The focal length is short.
