I've been bawling my eyes out all day since I found out that Pluto is not longer considered a planet. Why did they have to do this? Why couldn't they just keep it the way that it is?

Or any of the other planets/moons for that matter? Would they fling out in space? Fall in the sun? Collide?

And by gravitational pull - I mean the **** that keeps it in alignment with the sun and other planets...

Its the only constellation I can clearly identify.

I know there are others up there like the bear, the crab etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to look for other patterns in the stars of the night sky?

If a black hole is a collapsed star, and it retains the mass of the star and just shrinks in diameter, then why does a black hole have enough gravity to pull light in, but the star that it formed from doesnt? Should they have the same gravity since they have the same mass? (law of conservation of mass)

Honestly, it's not getting destroyed. It'll still be there. It's never going to effect you in ANY way whether it's a planet or not, or whether it's even there or not. When was the last time you even thought of the stupid thing until it made national headlines. I've seen numerous posts about "saving" Pluto. Get off the bandwagon of morons and attempting to "save" useless objects billions of miles away. And worry about something that might make a difference on Earth where it matters. (like PETA- People Eat Tiny Animals)

They spent like 80 gagillion dollars on this mission, and now they are visiting a "dwarf planet"? Should NASA reprogram the mission to go to a REAL planet?

The remaining astronomers made the decision on the last day of a meeting of the International Astronomical Union in Prague (about 5% of the world astronomers), that Pluto should no longer be called a planet. Sometimes very exciting things happen in science, and my impression is that most of the world was willing to accept a new 12 planet solar system. The definition of a planet could have included many factors; mass, gravitation, atmosphere, stable orbit path, orbiting satellites, etc. I was shocked to hear that because of new discoveries farther out in the solar system, Pluto was demoted for simplicity sake. The astrological community has been debating the inclusion of Pluto as a planet, since its discovery in 1930. What do you think?
